Rough Day

Yesterday was just a rough day. All of the Cincinnatians know that it was nasty, ugly outside with freezing rain. I've been recovering from a sickness that I just can't seem to kick, in fact, it's pretty much been kicking me this whole time :). I went to the gym anyway and started my Monday regular 10 mile run. I figured 8 minute pace again would be good. So, being in the last month of pregnancy I have SO much pressure on my bladder. I tell my self I can't go to the bathroom until 3.5 miles. This time I made it 4 until it was unbearable! Then it went down hill. I started getting some braxton hicks contractions and had to stop and walk for a second. This happened THREE more times! I think I was just dehydrated because they supposedly come on more when you are. The pace overall felt great, even slow, it was just my stupid uterus getting in the way.

Fortunately, I was there early enough and it's spring break so I didn't have many people there giving me dirty looks for being active during pregnancy. I should say there are some who give me  big smile as if to say "way to go mama."

I think it was also just a rough day because Scott (my husband) has been out of the country the last 3 weeks. I obviously haven't blogged or posted about this at all incase there are some creepers out there! He is finally coming home! YAY! He's been in India and Paris.

Well, my crazy amount of clinical time starts tomorrow! I've been able to get in some extra biking yesterday and today so I won't have as much when I get home from a long day. Although, I usually get home and my legs are SO swollen, I get on the bike and I'm able to work most of it out.

Nothing really to complain about except the future

Long week... I had a test on Monday so I did my long run Tuesday morning.  I was pretty tired so I slowed my pace down to 8:00 pace. I used to think that pace was slow! Really my hr is so low and I feel great aerobically but I'm just so uncomfortable. I have to pee every step I take! I tell myself I can't go to the bathroom until 3.5 miles. I can't wait till I feel half way normal! I miss going on a run and feeling so free. That's probably the number one thing I'm looking forward to after birth. Well that and being able to eat a huge meal well even just a normal sized meal.

I started my complex adult preceptorship this week. I  one on one with a nurse and basically act as a nurse. I'm in the cvicu at university hospital and LoVe it! My preceptor is amazing and teaches me so so much the whole day. The only hard thing is that our clinicals up to this time have been 9 hours long and many times we left earlier than that. With this, we work the hours of our preceptor so 12 hour shifts which routinely turn into 13 hour or more shifts. My first time I got to the hospital before 6:30 and left right at 8:30. Yep 14 hours! I really didn't even realize how long it was because I was learning so much and having so much fun. Well this week I had more shifts. I had my first night shift on Thursday night. I survived!!! I still was able to get all my workouts in too. I had a great ride this Saturday 3.5 hours then I had to rush off to a doctors appointment. Things are getting less comfortable for sure! I can't believe I still have 6 more weeks to get uncomfortable :(

These next two weeks are going to go by super fast since I have a TON of clinical hours the next 2 weeks. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to get my workouts in! Seriously NO time. Hopefully ill still get them in! Well wish me luck! 6 weeks!

Nursery planning on the bike 3/9

For people who say they don't have enough time to excersise I highly recommend a bike trainer! It really is the only way I'm able to get everything done and still workout. Today I planned out our nursery and also did a bunch of reading for school. I just put my computer on my acrobars and have a tall table made out if buckets to hold my book up. When I run I have a nook that I use to review notes while running on the treadmill.

This week I saw another pregnant woman at the gym. I wanted to give her a high five or say way to go mama! There really is a unwritten bond between pregnant people. It's the look of understanding between the two. I ran my 10 miles at 7:47 pace this week. Again it's on the treadmill without any incline. I'm realizing a treadmill in the basement would be supper nice. The only problem is that in order to get a treadmill that would do everything that I want it to it would be about 2500 on the LOW end. With me still finishing up school that's just not doable.

Really this week went along without a hitch. I was able to do all my rides and runs and felt great doing it!
Made some snowmen after one of my runs. Can you tell which one is supposed to be me? (hint the one on the right has a snowball sticking out from it's belly.)
I can't believe this is 34 weeks! Scott's not home so I had to take a wonderful mirror picture with all my clean clothes piled on the guest bed behind it.
I figured I hadn't posted a picture of her! I love this ultrasound picture cause it looks like she's trying to flex her arm for us :)
This was my set up in our old apartment. I haven't taken a picture of my set up at the house here.

A little off...

This week hasn't gone as usual. Sunday night wiggle baby decided it would be fun to press on my stomach all night and give me heart burn and nausea. I got less than 4 hours of sleep and was exhausted by the time I had to go to school. I always run after classes on Monday but everything that could go wrong did. First, the whole no sleep bit, then I forgot my sports bra and we had to turn around to get it. Then, I had a midterm that might have broken my heart a little. I went over to start my run and realized that I didn't have head phones. I thought well I just buy some then I'll have extras incase. I went to change and realized that the spandex that I brought were actually long tights not shorts! I was still undeterred and tried my hardest to roll them up. I went out to the treadmill a little frazzled and tried to connect my headphones to my phone to watch Lost. THEY WOULDN'T FIT (because of my case)! Still determined I took my phone out of it's lifeproof case so they would fit. I started running and felt aweful. The tights were digging into my legs since they were rolled, I was hot already and I was terrified to drop my phone (especially how the day was going). I ended up on the bike 2 minutes later! I think it was a warning... here's your sign 10 times. I'm so stubborn that's how many times I need.

No fear I woke up supper early Tuesday so I could get my 10 miles in, slower this time at 7:47 pace. I felt great! This has off set my whole workout week though! I ran 4 miles on Thursday and now being Saturday I'm on my bike for my 3.5 hour ride but can't run afterward since I have a tour of the hospital scheduled. I might run later today but I would just call it good for the week.

I had a dr. appointment yesterday. Everything is going great except she decided to gain a whole bunch of weight and turn these last two weeks. I feel like I grew out like crazy! I'm still measuring behind (29 weeks instead of 32) but the doc said that's completely normal for a smaller person and I'm exercising.

I've been counting down the weeks by long rides. After this last 30 minutes of this ride I only have 7 more long rides left till my due date! It's getting real! Even though we have nothing for her except for clothes!
