The Little Things Bring Joy Too

The little things

Taking Emi to the park today made me really think about the joys of life. So many times we think something big has to make us excited or happy. Like a trip to Hawaii, qualifying for Kona or a promotion etc. Kids teach us we need to really glory and appreciated the little things in life.

Emi played on the slide for a full 20 minutes and would have probably longer if we didn't have to make it to the store and home for lunch! She was giggling and shrieking with joy the whole time. Her love of life was so apparent.

No, she doesn't have the stress of a job, or providing for a family, or cleaning a house, or even know about politics etc, but we could still learn from kids to find happiness in everything in life. I guess it's like Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk "Grateful in any Circumstances." One of my favorite quotes in there is "How much of life do we miss by waiting to see the rainbow before thanking God that there is rain?" So, how much fun do we miss by waiting for our big miles stones, then being joyful in each step to get there!

It's interesting that children or being child-like are/is prevalent in every season of life... first you ARE a child, then you help RAISE children, lastly you become child-like again as you age.

So the challenge this week... find at least 5 things every day that make you truly happy! Find that childlike joy back in your life!
